Inspiration at the house

On Thursday and Friday we all took a trip to the house to create, inspire, talk, be challenged....I could go on. It's hard to put into words what we achieved, but I will try! We arrived on Thursday morning, not really sure of what we were all going to end up doing, so there was some uncertainty in the air. This, I think for most of us was the day that ideas began to solidify, the creative juices began to flow and some of the preconceived ideas we had on what we would achieve either flew out the window or firmly took root! It was such an exciting time.

That evening we sat down to some great food, wine and conversation . We had decided that over our time at the house we would use it in a constructive way to give feed back to each other and have a group crit on each others work. So the 7 of us, over dinner began this process, which took 4 hours! I know this seems like a long time in our minds to grasp, but it seemed to fly by and I think was one of the highlights of our stay! I suppose that's what happens when you spend time with like minded people and enjoy their company. It's a privilege to be with a group of people with which you can discuss each others work in a frank and open way, which needs an element of trust, honesty and the ability to be able to take it on board without taking it personally. Some difficult things were said, but above all there was a sense of encouragement, excitement and community and we definitely had some laughs along the way.

It's amazing to see ideas transform and develop, as I think they did. On the Friday there seemed to be a lot more solid and focused ideas. The weather was much nicer too, so it meant that working in the house was hugely more pleasant. By the end of the day as it was nearly time to leave, we all agreed that we could have continued longer and a few more days would be beneficial. Over all the conversations we were having about life, art and each others work was something that was special and I think the memory of that time will be cherished. We have footage of our time captured on video that we will be showing in the gallery, along with some finished pieces, either made on site in the house or have been as a result and inspired by our time there.
We are going to be finishing the invitations tomorrow and then send them off to the printers.
